3. This is, in my opinion, the quintessential Metal Church song. Whenever I think of this band, "Watch the Children Pray" is the song that springs to mind, and the song that I want to hear. I don't claim to be a superfan, nor do I celebrate their entire musical catalog, but I really dig this song/5(9).

It's not as good as their debut self-titled album, which is a classic from start to finish, but it's well worth the price of admission with such outstanding songs as Ton of Bricks, The Dark, and the great Watch the Children Pray. Not as raw or heavy as their previous disc, but if you like Metal Church, The Dark is a mandatory must have/5().

8. The next track is the album's most famous song, and one of Metal Church's all-time classics. "Watch the Children Pray" is the ballad of the record, kind of like "Gods of Wrath" from the debut. The clean verses are dark yet enjoyable as the guitar and vocals once again mesh perfectly.
